Sample Sale Part 2 + Move Update

Studio to home office: complete. Sanity: questionable.  Re-taking inventory uncovered a stash of samples and archives that reminded me why...

STUDIO TO HOME: WE MADE IT (BARELY) 😅...

So our shift from working out of the studio space to working from home in Denver is officially complete, and whew… it has not been fun.

REAL FRIENDS HELP YOU MOVE...

If you have someone in your life who is willing to help you move, please treat them like the bestie they are. Shout out to our neighbor and friend Kolyn  for coming through and helping us get out of that space.

FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE IS THE WILD WILD WEST...

We pretty much put all the pieces that were in the studio up for sale on Facebook Marketplace, and why didn’t y’all tell me people on there are nuts and love to haggle like it is a full-time job? No, I will not sell you my $300 mirror for $30. I respect the hustle, but not like that. 😂

THE GARAGE IS HOLDING ME HOSTAGE...

We still have a few things left to sell, but for now they are in the garage taking up my parking spots, and I am not okay. I didn’t realize how much I loved not parking on the street until I had to again. Every time I pull up and see my spot blocked by bins and furniture, I start acting like Nene when she saw that white refrigerator.

WE ARE STILL IN DENVER (NOT NEW ORLEANS YET)...

Also, just to be clear, we are still in Denver. We are not in New Orleans yet, but it is coming, and I already know street parking is going to humble me all over again. I am mentally preparing now. I will absolutely become part of the “who parking in front my door” parking spot police.

THE BASEMENT OFFICE ERA...

Right now I am settled into the basement, and honestly, it is not that bad. It is not the most aesthetically pleasing setup, but it gets the job done for the time being. The stairs are my biggest complaint, but hey, maybe my legs will be toned with all the up and down I do every day. If y’all see me with calves this summer, just know it was not the gym. It was the basement.

WORKING FROM HOME IS A QUIET LUXURY...

One thing I did learn is that I really love working from home. I feel more productive in the comfort of my own space. I like being able to go to my kitchen for lunch, work in pajamas, prep dinner between breaks, and if I have a late night, the only place I have to go when it ends is straight to bed. No driving, no looking around the parking lot to see if someone is trying to steal me as I get in the car, just straight upstairs to bed. THIS IS LUXURY😂

WHY THIS FEELS LIKE A RESET...

But I am not going to lie, I feel like I am starting over as a business owner. Everything feels new again. Maybe it is the shift back to working from home instead of the studio. Maybe it is my bald head (yes, you can go see it on our Facebook and IG page if you haven’t). But it really does feel like a reset. A clean slate. A new rhythm.

SAMPLES WOKE ME UP CREATIVELY...

Even though things feel new, when we got back and I took inventory again, I realized we had even more samples and archives, some from five years ago. And y’all… going through them woke something up in me. I will be honest and say creatively, I have not been operating from a place of joy like I was in years one, two, and three. I haven’t been as intentional or free-flowing. The frustration of things going “wrong” has been overshadowing all the things I’ve done "right", so instead of creating in a flow state, I’ve been moving in a way that avoids disappointment.

But seeing all these pieces again, the ones that came from my head (or partially my head, because I do collaborate with my manufacturers on things like fabric design and development), reminded me who I am and who I can be.

I have a tattoo that reads, “My creativity is always in demand,” and seeing what I have created over the years confirmed it.

BACK TO JOY, BACK TO TD...

Sometimes the business of being in business can take the fun out of it, especially for people like me who really just want to make dope $hit for dope women. So I am choosing to come back to joy, back to inspiration, and back to creating from the right place. Because that is where Terrell Dominick the person is at her best, and it always bleeds over into TD the business.

SAMPLE SALE PART TWO IS HERE...

And with that said, Sample Sale Part Two is here.

We though we sold out everything but found some more gems! ...which means we are putting up a few bangers today.  Real “I cannot believe y’all are about to get this” vibes. I did keep a lot of pieces for myself to revisit for future designs (and just to wear lol.)

Now listen…. Once they’re gone, they’re gone, and I do not want to hear “I missed it” tomorrow. 😂

Set your alarm, stretch your thumbs, and meet me back here at 4 PM EST for Sample Sale Part Two. Let’s have some fun. 💛

Thank you for rocking with us, always and keeping TD alive and thriving.
