We moved to Denver in April 2021.
Before we made the move, we came out during Covid for two weeks just to see. My husband had a wild idea (like always) to pack us up from the East Coast and come West. He wanted a change of pace.
And honestly, I get it.
I LOVE THE EAST COAST but the East Coast moves fast. Time moves fast. People move fast. He was one of them, and I truly think he was deep in burnout. And when you’ve spent ten years running a business, being a dedicated dad, loving husband but barely getting to see your kids and your wife because you’re always working… yeah. That’ll do it.
If you’ve ever experienced burnout, you know it can make you associate people, places, and things with that feeling. For him, the East Coast became a symbol of it.
I wasn’t exactly on board. And I’ll be real: I was unimpressed with Denver at first.
But I love my husband, and I figured why not. Worst case, we could always move again.
My time here I’ll save for another blog post because it’s been… interesting. I haven’t loved the past five years here. It’s a nice place though, and I’m of the mind that just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean it’s bad.
Like I don’t like sweet potato pie, but it’s not bad according to millions of Black people around the world, okay? 😭
Denver has its pros. The weather is great. It feels safe. The mountains are beautiful (we ski and the kids snowboard). I got to host my family in the mountains for Thanksgiving 2023. I met a handful of cool people who I love (heavy emphasis on handful). My kids made real friends and they’re genuinely happy.
But none of that is enough to make me want to stay.
Leaving the Studio (and Why I’m Not Letting It Stress Me Out)
If y’all remember, we moved the business into our studio in 2024, and that was exciting. But we’re exiting it now in preparation for our relocation.
At first, I felt sad about it because we put a good chunk of upgrades into that space. My family helped too, shout out to them because whew. But the truth is I don’t want to be moving out of two places at once: our home and our business office. I already know that would make me feel overwhelmed.
So for these remaining months, we’ll be running operations from home.
Now can I fit all the merchandise in my house for real? Absolutely NOT. So we have to move the pieces and make some hard decisions.
The Biggest Sale We’ve Ever Done (and Why)
If you read my previous post, you know I talked about the ills of sales when they’re done excessively by small business owners. We ran a lot of them in 2025, and it wasn’t so great for us.
With that said, we do have one coming and it’s literally the biggest one ever. It’s probably the only time we’ll do something this extreme, and it’ll be the last one for a while.
It will be 50% off the whole site (minus jewelry and preorders) because I legit can’t fit all these pieces in my basement.
The sale starts January 23rd at 6pm EST and runs through January 29th at midnight.
This season feels like a lot at once. It’s exciting, emotional, and exhausting. But it also feels like alignment. And I’ll share more as we go.
One last thing: our Sample/ Archive Sale will start the day after this sale ends 01.30.26 at 12pm EST.

Hi! I’m fairly new here, I have followed you on IG & absolutely love your style & your pieces!!!
However, I haven’t had the opportunity yet to show my love & support as I have been on a bit of a journey myself the last few years, partly unplanned relocation due to Hurricane Ida & partly readjusting my life to an auto-immune disease.

happy you’re moving back to nola sis! (my favorite southern city & happy place) i felt the burnout too-living in NJ , working in the fashion biz in new york, going back and forth to houston for family obligations- and the shit hit the fan after my lay off in february 2025- after a very very very long time running nyc streets- i moved back home to houston ..htown! best decision ever! talk about alignment..that’s the first thing my nervous system did was align! I LOVE NYC – and i’m sure a part of me will always need to have a part of it— but for now..it’s the south for me…and i NEVER thought i’d say that in a trillion years! congratulations sis! can’t wait for you new set up in nola- i’ll be there! sending peace, love and light!
